Belconnen finished their Fed Cup preparations with a 3-2 win over St George on Staurday. Leading 3-0 with 10mins remaining, St George never gave up and scored 2 late goals including a penalty.

Tai Smith broke past a defender in the first half and calmy slotted into the bottom corner of the net to make it 1-0 at half time.

Some good defending from Matt Valeri and Lee Pietrukowski kept St George at bay at the other end. The post also came to the Devils assistance twice in the space of 5mins.

After half time, a good passing move from the Devils deep in their own half led to a through ball from David Kemp to Smith. Smith ran on to the ball and passed it onto the running Dustin Wells who neatly smacked it past the keeper into the net to make it 2-0.

Wells got his second from the penalty spot moments later after Phil Borgeud was fouled in the box.

In the end it was an excellent last run out for the Devils before their Fed Cup starts this weekend.

The first match is against arch rivals Canberra FC at Deakin on Sunday at 5pm. The Belconnen womens PL also play Canberra FC, and their match starts at 3pm as the lead up to the Mens PL game.
