McKellar Park Kick off 16:00 - 30 May 2010 Belconnen United are back at home in Round Seven as they welcome ANU FC to McKellar Park. Scott Conlon’s team were 2-0 winners last time out against Canberra City to keep the pressure up on Canberra FC, whilst ANU FC were beaten 1-3 by Canberra Olympic after leading 1-0 at the break. It’s difficult to see ANU FC getting anything from this game due to their inconsistent displays so far in 2010, but the same was said of Tuggeranong in Round Five, so there’s all to play for. The Blue Devils showed excellent character to bounce back from their shock Tuggeranong reverse as the pressure mounts on the perennial title challengers. Dustin Wells played, arguably, his best game of the season to date last week against City and the more the former A-League player comes into the form the better that Belconnen United will become. The loss of 2009 ACT Golden Boot, David Leet, is a big blow to the squad and means that young prodigy Tai Smith and veteran goal-poacher Danny Macor will need to up their productivity in front of goal to compensate for the loss of Leet. ANU FC have their own problems at present but are building momentum towards another win. They showed patches of form again last week, leading Canberra Olympic until after half-time before succumbing to a Robbie Schroder hat-trick. A similar first-half showing would certainly make Belconnen work and, just perhaps, ensure another upset at McKellar Park. |
